Burmester. 2002 Casa Burmester Tinto Reserva Douro: Deep red. Rich, meaty and cherry-toned on the nose, with a hint of dark chocolate. Casa da Alorna. 2003 Tinto Ribatejano: Bright ruby. Grapey and primary, with crushed berry and candied cherry aromas. A juicy, fresh fruit bomb, with lush, straightforward blackberry jam flavor. Supple and fresh on the finish. An excellent value in an easy drinking fruit-driven style. 87. 2001 Colheita Seleccionada Tinto Ribatejano: Deep red. Smoky cherry and blackberry scents, with suggestions of tobacco, roasted coffee and herbs. Fresh and sweet, with blackberry and blackcurrant flavors and a supple, silky texture, finishing with very good fruit and zero tannins. 89. Other wines tasted: 2004 Touriga Nacional Rose Ribatejano.

Casa de Santa Vitoria. 2003 Tinto Reserva Alentejo: Medium red. Sweet, jammy red berry aromas, along with a suggestion of black pepper. Like a cross between New World pinot noir and a Côtes de Ventoux. Fleshy and supple, with fresh, juicy raspberry and blackberry flavors that deliver straightforward, easy pleasure.
